Ottawa bike shop a self-help spot for cyclists

By Alexander Behne

A small bike shop on Bronson Avenue is helping to educate Ottawa’s emerging cycling community on how to maintain their bikes. At re-Cycles, cyclists can buy refurbished bicycles and rent time to use the shop’s equipment to repair their wheels with help from the volunteer staff of bicycle mechanics. Co-ordinator Mark Rehder and head mechanic Doug Yuill explain the workings of the shop and how they’re helping to put pedals under the feet of more of Ottawa’s budding cyclists.
