Ottawa-Carleton moved one step closer to a 24-hour health information line when regional council’s community committee voted recently to prepare an action plan to get such a line up and running.
The health line is the brainchild of regional councillors Alex Munter and Madeleine Meilleur and is modelled on a line in the Outaouais.
Munter, chair of the community services committee, said in a news release that Ottawa-Carleton residents already have access to several health lines.
“It won’t take a lot of new resources to try to knit together the various services we already have so residents can have easy, one-stop access to the health information they need, when they need it.”
The action plan, to cost $50,000, will be considered by full council Oct. 27.
