City council will consider widening the overcapacity sidewalks along Metcalfe Street between Gloucester and Wellington streets now that the city’s transportation committee has given the plan the green light.
Changes could include the removal of signs that interfere with pedestrian flow, and eliminating one of the northbound lanes to accommodate wider sidewalks and a bike lane.
The proposal initially came from the volunteer pedestrian and transit advisory committee and will go before the full council next Wednesday.
