CANSEC to face protests

Members of the Spring Nuremberg Action Group will be out in force on June 1, beginning at 8 a.m., to protest an arms trade fair at Lansdowne Park in a show of non-violent civil disobedience.

The fair called CANSEC is hosted by the Canadian Association of Defense and Security Industries, a non-profit business organization.

The protest will include informhotmail.coming exhibitors and participants that trade shows such as CANSEC violate the principles established by the

Nuremberg war crime trials after the Second World War, organizers said in a news release. Participants will also be asked to sign a pledge to observe the principles and disarm. “A person is considered complicit if, while aware of the commission of war crimes or crimes against humanity, the person contributes directly or indirectly to their occurrence,” states Canada’s Crimes Against Humanity and War Program.

Organizers include Ottawa Raging Grannies, Nowar-Paix, Homes not Bombs, Coalition to Oppose the Arms Trade and the Radical Relics.
