Employment centre opens in Centretown

The city and the provincial government today opened an employment centre in Centretown.

The office at 370 Catherine St. was officially opened by John Milloy, minister of training, colleges and universities, Yasir Naqvi, MPP for Ottawa Centre and Aaron Burry, general manager of community and social services of the City of Ottawa.

The centre provides all the employment services job seekers and employers require in one location including resource and information, job search, job matching, placement and incentives, and job retention.

The city was one of four municipalities granted an employment service contract with the ministry. There are 11 employment delivery sites in the Ottawa area.

The Catherine Street location is also home to the Social Services Central – Ontario Works office and the Youth Zone Jeunesse, which provides youth employment assistance.

The centre provides service in languages English, French, Arabic, Spanish and Punjabi.
