Jennifer McKenzie nominated as NDP candidate for Ottawa Centre

Ottawa-Carleton District School Board chair Jennifer McKenzie was nominated Sunday as the NDP candidate for Ottawa Centre.

She defeated Alex Cullen, a former Bay Ward city councillor, at the riding association’s nomination meeting at the Bronson Centre.

“We’re going to have to work hard together to make sure we take back Ottawa Centre for the Ontario New Democratic Party,” said McKenzie.

McKenzie said she will continue to serve as chairwoman, but will no longer be acting as the OCDSB spokesperson.

Provincial NDP leader Andrea Horwath spoke at the meeting, as well as NDP MP Paul Dewar.
