Water main closes Laurier bike lane

The eastbound bike lane on Laurier Avenue remains closed after a water main broke on Monday.

The City of Ottawa said on Twitter that they are unsure how long the closure will last.

A water main broke on Laurier Avenue between Elgin and Metcalfe streets on Monday afternoon, sending water spurting up through the cracks in the street.  After about 12 hours of overnight repair, city crews were able to fix the burst pipes.

Laurier Avenue has been open to traffic since Tuesday afternoon, but the eastbound bike lane remains closed.

Cyclists are asked to take an alternate route.
