City manager gets contract extension

Ottawa city manager Kent Kirkpatrick’s contract has been extended for another year.

The updated contract comes with the option for a further one-year extension in 2015, according to media.

Kirkpatrick’s contract was last extended three years ago and was scheduled to end this March.

He has served as the City of Ottawa’s city manager since 2004.

While financial information wasn’t released with the announcement, the city's last disclosure of public sector salaries put Kirkpatrick’s salary in 2012 at $342,979.

The city manager oversees the City of Ottawa’s major projects and policy development, and promotes Ottawa’s interests with organizations and other levels of government.
