Yes, another frostbite warning is in effect

The City of Ottawa has extended yet another frostbite warning until Monday morning despite the official arrival of spring.

The first day of spring was on March 20, but temperatures in the city are expected to drop to lows of -16 C overnight until Monday morning.

The average temperature in March 2014 was -7.3 C, just a bit chillier than this month’s -5.6 C average.

February, however, was a record-breaker. Environment Canada data confirmed that February 2015 was the coldest in 115 years.

The city advises to take precautions tonight when going outside, such as moving constantly, especially hands and feet, to keep blood flowing to maintain body heat.

To seek assistance for a homeless person, the OPH encourages people to call: 3-1-1.
