A 21-year-old man is in serious but stable condition after he was stabbed near Chateau Laurier on Friday night.
Police were called to Rideau Street and Mackenzie Avenue shortly after 10 p.m.
The victim received multiple stab wounds and required aggressive treatment by paramedics on the scene and en route to hospital, according to media. This treatment elevated the man’s condition to serious but stable and he was able to undergo surgery once at hospital, the Ottawa Citizen reports.
The victim is expected to survive, paramedics say.
Roads near the incident were closed for several hours on Friday night, but all have since reopened. Police continue to investigate.
