Cycling Award nominations now open

The City of Ottawa is now accepting nominations for the 2017 Bruce Timmermans Cycling Award.

The awards are named in honor of Bruce Timmermans, a founder of Citizens for Safe Cycling Ottawa and cycling advocate who worked to promote awareness of cycling and cycling safety in the city.

Awarded annually since 1999 to an individual and an organisation. Previous award winners include the bike sharing service RightBike. The last organizational winner was EcoDistrict, which includes part of Centretown and aims to make Ottawa’s downtown core more sustainable and eco-friendly Paul Clarke, head of the Advocacy Working Group of Citizens for Safe Cycling won last year’s individual award.

Nominations for both the individual and organizational awards are open to the public until February 19.
