Charges laid in cyclist incident on Bronson Avenue

Ottawa police have laid charges against a driver caught on tape getting into a confrontation with a cyclist.

Patrice Lepage, 47, of Gatineau has been charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, assault and mischief under $5,000.

Ottawa Police said that Lepage and the cyclist, Victor Jung, starting having a verbal confrontation while they headed northbound on Bronson Avenue.

The two continued to exchange words when stopped at the intersection of Bronson Avenue and Slater Street. Jung dismounted his bike and stood in front of Lepage’s vehicle. Lepage continued to drive forward and into Jung’s bike.

Police also say that Lepage got out of the vehicle, grabbed Jung’s bike and threw it down to the ground, and then slapped Jung.

On Jan. 28, Jung pressed charges.

Lepage has been released, but will appear in court. Police are continuing to investigate the incident.
