Chaudière Falls show sheds light on Algonquin controversy

The Chaudière Falls, unceded Algonquin territory on the Ottawa River, is publicly accessible this fall for the first time in more than a century, through a new evening light show called Mìwàte, meaning “dazzled by a light or fire.” While many Algonquins helped produce the evening performance, others are opposed to the industrialization of the sacred sight.
