Indie rock band Said the Whale is coming to the Bronson Centre

Mark your calendars: Vancouver-based indie rock band Said the Whale is coming to the Bronson Centre on April 5.
The trio — made up of guitarist/vocalist Ben Worcester, frontman Tyler Bancroft and Jaycelyn Brown on keyboard — will release a new album called As Long as Your Eyes Are Wide at the end of the month.
In a statement, Worcester said the album — the band’s fifth — is a return to the days when they experimented with different sounds and instruments.
“This is our most personal, earnest record for sure,” Bancroft said in the statement. “Even the upbeat songs are lamenting and sad.”
The stop is part of a cross-Canada tour, which started in Calgary in January and will finish in Vancouver at the end of April.
Opening for the band are indie rockers Fast Romantics, whose latest LP American Love will be released in April.
Said the Whale last played in Ottawa in April 2016 at House of Targ on Bank Street.
Tickets for the show are available online at spectrasonic.com, Vertigo Records on Rideau Street and at both Compact Music locations on Bank Street.
