Ottawa bracing for first serious snowfall, freezing rain

Whether you’re more “let it snow” or “dear God, no,” winter is on its way to Ottawa.

Environment Canada put a special weather statement in effect for Ottawa on Thursday, saying that the weekend would bring a “Mixed Bag of Wintery Precipitation.”

Ottawa residents can expect some snow Saturday morning, with freezing rain coming later in the day, then more snow on Sunday.

Environment Canada warns that travel conditions will deteriorate due to the freezing rain.

An intense low pressure system will bring colder air to Ottawa, as well, causing a dip in temperatures with a high of 1 C and a low of -11 C.
