Ottawa Curling Club celebrating 166 years

The Ottawa Curling Club is hosting a celebration to commemorate its 166 years of operation in the city and the 101st anniversary of the club’s O’Connor Street rink.

On Saturday, Sept. 30, the club will host a barbeque and entertainment as officials thank the many members who have contributed to its success over the past several decades.

Home to the decorated team of curlers led by skip Rachel Homan, the 2017 World Women’s Curling Champions, the club boasts many accomplishments and a rich history that started in the heart of Ottawa more than a decade before Confederation.

The club hosts several major events throughout the year as well as the Special Olympics curling program and the annual National Blind and Vision Impaired Curling Championships.

In addition to food and social activities, there will also be a curling challenge late Saturday afternoon followed by a toast to the club’s newest Lifetime members — the highest honour bestowed by the club. .

Tickets are available for purchase online for $50 or for $35 if you wish to forgo the curling challenge.
