Rebecca White Raven: a sound soother
By Julia Moran and Brianne Godsman
Rebecca White Raven seeks to heal and provide stress relief through sound. The self-described dancer, musician, lover and geek, conducts group meditations out of her Ottawa home a few times a month where those seeking relaxation can get lost in an array of sounds she plays. Her living room, where groups of eight to 10 gather on cushions and blankets, is outfitted with an assortment of gongs, crystal singing bowls, bells, and many more majestic sounding instruments. Sound healers offer their services as an alternative therapy for a wide array of conditions, ranging from anxiety and sleeplessness to chronic pain.
