Crump, who grew up east of Peterborough, spent four years at the University of Waterloo with aspirations of being a social worker. After finishing her degree, Crump changed gears and ultimately decided to enter the gaming industry.
Although it was a different career from what she had planned, she says her background studying social development has given her a strong respect for social workers, stating, “We need folks like that. I am super grateful there are people who can do that job day in and day out.”
Crump started in the gaming industry as a part-time member of the team at the Flamboro Downs racetrack just outside of Hamilton. Crump also serves on the advisory board for Make-A-Wish Canada’s Ontario chapter, an organization that supports children with critical illnesses by granting their wishes and bringing them hope and joy, a role that mirrors her leadership philosophy.
