A new venue is joining Live Nation’s stable of music clubs across North America, this time in Ottawa.
The National Capital Commission, announced the new 2,000 seat venue will come to the former Chapters building at the corner of Rideau Street and Sussex Drive in the heart of downtown.
The NCC is leasing the space to Live Nation Canada, the giant entertainment company whose other club holdings in. Canada include Toronto’s History, the Commodore Ballroom in Vancouver and Midway in Edmonton.
“This mid-size music venue will bring renewed life to the downtown core by bringing thousands of people to a variety of live events at the site each year,” the NCC says.
The multi-level Chapters bookstore closed in 2022.
It’s expected the Live Nation venture will open in late 2025 after necessary renovations have been made.

This new state-of-the-art live music and entertainment venue in the heart of downtown will be a great destination for residents and visitors, contribute to increased economic activity for local restaurants and shops, and generate vibrancy and excitement for the National Capital Region as a whole,” said Tobi Nussbaum, NCC’s CEO in the media release.
Interestingly, the new venue will be just down the street from 521 Susses Dr., which hosted Ottawa’s legendary music venue, Le Hibou, which closed for good in 1975. Also in the ByWard Market area are other smaller venues including The Rainbow Bistro and The 27 Club.
