Rideau Review

The Rideau Review is a Capital Current pop-up section created by first-year Master of Journalism students. Their mission is to cover news and features about what is happening in Ottawa.

Alex Scott Raised in the west end, Alex is passionate about municipal affairs in Ottawa – especially public transportation. In his down time, Alex enjoys reading and watching sports.

Will Brady has a passion for sports coverage. He enjoys incorporating data-based analysis in his work, and has an interest in both audio and video production.

Grace Knapp enjoys writing and storytelling. The opportunity to connect with people and tell untold stories is what brought her to journalism.

Dexter Nyuurnibe is passionate about issues that matter to people and their communities. In his spare time, Dexter enjoys hiking, camping, and listening to podcasts.

Brian L. Cox is an adjunct professor of law at Cornell Law School, a graduate research fellow for the Centre for International and Defence Policy at Queen’s University, and he retired from the U.S. Army in 2018 after twenty-two years of military service. Studying journalism will add a multi-disciplinary perspective for his work as a law professor while also bringing nearly three decades of experience in the defence and security sector to the journalism profession.

Anthony Michael Maio was born and raised in Toronto in a multicultural environment. With a BA in Applied Linguistics and Discourse Studies, he has a fluent comprehension of several languages. Whether covering local artistic events, innovations in science, or international politics, Anthony has a belief in public service media and putting people at the centre of stories.

Raquel Medina is a recent graduate from the University of Alberta, where she completed her degree in Political Science and Anthropology. As an aspiring multimedia journalist, and fluent Spanish speaker, Raquel hopes to one day work within an international context, travelling as much as possible.
