OC Transpo reported a 98.6 per cent performance rate for buses and 99.8 per cent for the O-Train in May 2024. Para-Transpo reported a 93 per cent performance rate and 74,700 customer trips in May alone.
OC-Transpo also reported an on-time rate for buses between 82 and 85 per cent so far in 2024.
Additionally, the On-Demand bus pilot project in Blackburn Hamlet, which will end June 23 was declared a success. OC Transpo said the project will go forward to implementation in 2025.
Ten new minibuses have been ordered for the project and are expected to arrive next year.
Orléans West-Inness Coun. Laura Dudas called the project as “a game changer” and said her experience with the on-demand service was “phenomenal.”
As for the expansion of the O-Train, OC Transpo officials told the committee that the north-south Trillium line which connects to the airport should open in the fall, but did not give specific dates.
However, the extension from Blair station to Trim Road will not likely open until the summer of 2025.
OC Transpo also updated the commission on upcoming O-Train maintenance from July 15 to 28. This will involve the temporary closure from Tunney’s Pasture Station to Rideau Station with buses being provided from Tunney’s Pasture to Hurdman Station.
As usual, travel will be free on Canada Day and there will be extended service during the day and evening, OC Transpo confirmed.
