With hosts Adam Tripp and Olivia Grandy, Midweek returned for the second run of Fall 2024.

Similar to last week, reporters broke off in pairs to chase same-day stories while the production team built the show line-up.

Ottawa saw many protests rallying for an end to violence after Israel invaded Lebanon earlier this week. Adam Tripp attended the “Hands Off Lebanon” protest to speak with attendees and organizers about their demands.

September 30th marks the fourth annual National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. Darren Tran attended an event held by The Indigenous People Space to increase awareness of Indigenous history and Canada and the importance of Truth and Reconciliation.

Israel was hit with over one 180 missiles by Iran on Tuesday in the wake of the Israel/Palestine conflict escalation. Olivia Grandy covered the breaking story with an interview from Mira Sucharov, professor of Israel and Palestinian relations at Carleton University. Sucharov is currently based in Jerusalem.

Haven Caster attended L.J. Slovin’s book launch for new book – Fierce, Fabulous and Fluid: How Trans Highschool Students Work at Gender Nonconformity. Caster explained the conception of the book and how it challenges the way schools think about trans students.

Show producer Nicole Dainty and Chase producer Caelan Foye stumbled upon a few hiccups with the show’s run time but nothing that couldn’t be solved by incorporating some evergreen – always timely – stories by Olivia Grandy and Haven Caster.
