Canada’s national volleyball team lost to Argentina three sets to one Thursday evening at TD Place in Ottawa.
This was Canada’s second game in the second leg of the Volleyball Nations League tournament which runs from May 14 to June 30.
Argentina came out strong in the first set with the team pulling ahead by eight points. A number of massive blocks by the South Americans led to the 25 to 18 win.
Canada had a much better second set with the team coming out on top winning 25 to 22.
While Canada kept fighting, Argentina won the third set 25 to 21.
A streak of excellent strikes by Canada were unfortunately not enough as Argentina won the fourth and final set 25 to 20.
Argentina won the bronze medal at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics but has yet to qualify for the Paris 2024 games. The team will be looking to go far in this tournament to punch their ticket to France.
Argentina played the U.S. on Tuesday and lost three straight sets. Canada played against Cuba and won three sets to one.
Canada’s next game will be against the U.S. on Saturday while Argentina takes on Serbia.
