This week, arts and culture were the name of the game!
From festivals to exhibitions, plays, cooking competitions, and old-school bookmaking, there was a little something for most interests. But to get things going, a story about disability benefits not going far enough for many Canadians, and a look at booing national anthems at sports games.
Next up was Lunar New Year in Ottawa’s Chinatown, and a play about a play being performed in China. Keeping with the cultural theme, we went inside the Canadian Science and Technology Museum as it kicked off Black History Month with an exhibit on hair.
In the bottom half of the hour, we had a book on refugees, an Ottawa chef stealing the show (but not first place) at a cooking competition, and Islamic Awareness Week.
To wrap things up, a look at keeping bookmaking techniques from the sepia age alive (with a side of encouraging theft), and the newest farcical comedy production at Carleton University’s theatre company.
The work didn’t end when the show did—post-debrief, our reporting team got right to making calls and sending emails ahead of the next show!
