It’s that time of year already!

Our season of Midweek for the Fall 2024 semester has officially come to end. We said goodbye to our incredibly talented group of 15 reporters today as we prepare for an entirely new group to carry on Midweek in January.

Our hosts Sylina Wright and Sean Coombs were prepped in the broadcasting booth and practiced their scripts with 20 minutes to air!

Midweek staff arrived on time this morning, as usual, at 8:30 a.m.

The production team gathered and immediately got to work editing scripts, finding music and stories, cutting audio, and building the show lineup.

The chemistry between our newsroom staff is incomparable and made our final production day a breeze.

We had lots of content to cover today with four tape talks in our lineup, and unfortunately lost a story before the show aired and another during production due to time.

The show lineup was completed and on the board by 11:00 a.m and our hosts had scripts in their hands by 11:30 a.m!

The live show featured conversations about Donald Trump’s proposed tariffs on Canada and Mexico, overflowing homeless shelters in Ottawa, and a celebration of women in cinema.

Other items in the lineup included winter running strategies, national addiction awareness week, the importance of urban planning on the environment, and safe consumption sites across Ottawa.

Brief credits played at the end of the show to commemorate everyone that contributed to our Midweek production this season!

After the live show, our staff enjoyed sandwiches, pop and chips while telling our favourite moments from the semester and what we learned throughout the course.

As a news crew, we laughed together, supported each other, and grew into better journalists and instructors along the way.

We say goodbye to our wonderful Fall 2024 reporting team with heavy hearts and wish them all the best in their next ventures!

We will be back live on CKCU-FM at the start of February 2024.

See you soon!
