Free live music is returning to Ottawa’s downtown core this summer.
The Ottawa Music Industry Coalition (OMIC) and the Sparks Street Business Improvement Area will be hosting a series of concerts for the second year.
Live from the Booth will be on Sparks Street beginning June 15 featuring performances from emerging DJs and electronic artists.
“Grounding these performances in such a setting harkens back to the roots of DJing, and the project will look to provide the local public with an insight into the often underground but so incredibly vibrant musical nightlife the city has to offer,” Fabien Pleur, the OMIC program coordinator, said.
The Booth will be located between Elgin and Metcalfe Streets and run until Oct. 15 from 6 to 8 p.m. so those enjoying dinner on the many patios lining Sparks will be able to listen.
A second venue, Songs from the Shed, will return to Sparks as well. The Shed is located between O’Connor and Bank. Performances will run from 12 to 1:30 p.m.
Last year, Songs from the Shed attracted more than 40,000 listeners and featured 68 artists.
