Isabelle Gasse and Marie-Line Gagne have been carving ice sculptures for ten years.
This past winter, they put their skills on display at Ottawa’s Winterlude festival with a piece that was a tribute to Metis culture.
For them, ice sculpting isn’t just a job. It’s a way of life.
The fleeting nature of ice sculpting is an emblem for the way we ought to appreciate every present moment.
The ice will melt eventually, but the act of creating art from it, and the memory of experiencing that art lives on.
