Good morning, Ottawa. It is starting to feel less like summer and more like fall as Environment Canada says there is a risk of a thunderstorm with temperatures going as high as 19ºC and as low as 6ºC. Here is what you need to know on this rainy morning.

Ottawa’s global climate strike

In case you did not know, there is a global strike organized by students in more than 150 countries, including Canada, to demand action on the climate crisis. The rally is set to take place on Friday. The Ottawa rally will begin in Confederation Park at 11:30 a.m. and will subsequently move to Parliament Hill. Beware of fraudsters

The Ottawa police warns the public of fraudsters impersonating officers using phone numbers similar to the official police line, the Ottawa Citizen reports. In a news release, the Ottawa Police Service provided two cases of fraud, one in which a fraudster claimed to be a police officer with Service Canada and another, where the fraudster called a victim and said he was from the Canada Revenue Agency.

More allegations against Chiarelli

CBC News reported this morning that six more women have shared stories of inappropriate behaviour by Ottawa Coun. Rick Chiarelli. Chiarelli is currently mired in a sexual harassment scandal at city hall with several women who used to work for him coming forth to recount inappropriate remarks he has made about what they should wear to events. On Tuesday, Chiarelli issued a memo requesting a medical leave. On Wednesday, council voted to postpone a decision about his leave.

Election: Day 16

Elizabeth May, Green Party Leader, will be in Montreal, Que, to make an announcement about Quebec’s role in the transition to renewable energy, CBC News reports. Jagmeet Singh‘s schedule has yet to be released. Conservative leader Andrew Scheer will equally be in Montreal visiting local businesses with Conservative candidates David Tordjman. Justin Trudeau will be in Sudbury meeting with families and visiting local businesses. He will hold a campaign rally with supporters and Liberal candidate Maryam Monsef in Peterborough, Ont. at 6:30 p.m. Maxime Bernier will hold a campaign rally in Calgary, Alta.at 9 p.m. and BQ Leader Yves-François Blanchet‘s schedule has yet to be released.

Senators’ impressive comeback

Ottawa Senators made an impressive comeback in a 6-2 win over the Vancouver Canucks late Wednesday at the Rogers Arena, the Ottawa Citizen reports. On Monday, the Senators lost 6-4 to the Canucks at Abbotsford. The team is set to play its final exhibition game in Montreal against the Canadiens on Saturday.
