Oto-Wa Taiko, Ottawa’s Japanese drumming group, will celebrate its 10th anniversary at the Adult High School, at 300 Rochester St.. The show begins at 8 p.m., tickets go for $10 and are available at Kaede Ya Japanese food store (210 Slater St.), or by calling 726-0251.


October 16-17
Railfair, a model railroad show, takes place at Algonquin College in Nepean (Woodroffe and Baseline). Hours are 11 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Saturdays, and 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Sundays. Entry costs $6 for adults, $4 for seniors and children under 12.


October 17
Mountain Equipment Co-Op and Around the Rideau are teaming up for a Rideau River Cleanup from 8 a.m. to noon. Volunteers will meet in the M.E.C. parking lot at St. Patrick’s and Vanier. Call Peter at 745-1094 for more information.

The Ottawa Region Landlords’ Association will hold a brunch at the Bon Vivant restaurant from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 85 O’Connor St. Guest speakers include Ren Molnar of the CFRA home improvement show, Susan Anderson of ReMax Realty, Martha Robinson of the RMOC, and Howard Whiting and Blair Davidson of MCD4 Technology Solutions. Tickets at the door are $25 for non-members, $20 for Members. Pre-registered tickets will cost $15 for members and $20 for non-members.

Young Skills Extravaganza featuring the talent of young woodworkers, clothing designers, potters, artists, buskers, and musicians will be held at the Bayshore Shopping Centre. For more info, contact Tim Kennedy at 244-3803.
