Small businesses in Centretown say they aren’t impressed by the new Liberal federal budget promising tax cuts and economic relief.
A union representing Blue Line taxi drivers has called for an increase in the price of cab fares. Earlier this year, Retail Wholesale Canada asked the city, which determines cab fare rates, for a six-per-cent increase.
With all the hoopla surrounding the National Capital Commission, it’s sometimes hard to believe Ottawa wouldn’t be better off without it.
Despite critics in Centretown calling for the abolition of the National Capital Commission and Ottawa Mayor Jim Watson demanding the federal government to reign in its powers, the NCC persists with its plans for shaping Ottawa.
