After 25 years as a parking lot, 500 Preston St. may soon become a commercial and residential highrise.
After months of complaining that it was ignored in Bank Street redevelopment plans, Ottawa’s gay and lesbian community is asking the city to make their “gaybourhood” visibly recognizable.
Residents in Centretown West are taking an active role improving safety in their neighbourhood with help from the Ottawa Police Service and city council.
Last month’s federal election prompted renewed speculation in some quarters that party-politics could be coming to Ottawa city hall. While such suppositions seem to be unfounded, or at least premature, they provide us with a reason to pause and appreciate our excellent system of party-free municipal politics.
