A Science FunFest will highlight National Science and Technology Week beginning this week. SalvAide is preparing for its ninth Annual Fundraising Dinner and Auction. The fundraiser will take place from 5:30 p.m. onwards at the Ukrainian Hall, 1000 Byron Ave. The event will feature food, entertainment and live and silent auctions of 150 varied items. Action Life will hold a public information meeting scheduled Oct. 26 at Saint Paul University. Guest speaker will be Bobby Schindler, brother of Terri Schiavo, whose story made international headlines in March 2005.The meeting is open to everyone and free of charge.

The Yuletide Fair of Dominion-Chalmers United Church, 355 Cooper St., will be held Nov. 4 from 9:30 a.m. until 2 p.m. The Coffee Shop opens at 9:30 a.m. Items for sale will include home baking, candy, jams, pickles, specialty foods, books, toys, handicrafts, knitting, jewellery and plants. There will also be gift baskets and a White Elephant table. Admission is free. Lunch tickets are $5 for adults and $2 for children under 12, with sittings at 11 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.

Homes for the Holidays, the fourth annual fundraising event for The Hospice at May Court, will take place over three days.
