Lisgar students wing it for top prize at NAC

Various Lisgar Collegiate Institute students make like zombies during a rehearsal for the Canadian Improv Games happening this week.

Picture a competitive improv team from a local high school, standing in front of an audience at the National Arts Centre. The members have been asked to perform a scene, using the suggestion “Republic of Zombia.” They have 15 seconds to plan it.

Tournament raises city’s minor hockey profile

The Jr. 67s, the Ottawa AAA Senators and the Ottawa Valley Titans represented the city at the 2008 Central Regional Midget AAA Championships earlier this month.

The whispers skate blades make on the ice. The goose bumps that appear on your forearm. The familiar shouts of “come on, ref.” The wacky playoff haircuts. These are all reasons why Ottawa resident Luc Bedard says he loves hockey.

Students from eight Ottawa high schools had the pleasure of carving up powder at the Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations’ annual snowboarding festival this year, largely due to one teacher’s determination and dedication to the sport and his students.
