All of Preston Street reopened and the buses returned Thursday at 5 p.m.
The city reopened Preston Street between Beech Street to Carling Avenue.
Preston Street reopened to traffic between Beech and Albert streets at 5 p.m. Dec. 4, after two years of construction.
The street section was supposed to open early morning on Dec. 4 but the city delayed it, said Lori Mellor, executive director of the Preston Street BIA.
The Preston Street BIA is delighted to have the street open to public traffic, said Mellor.
“We’ve had enough of construction,” she said. “It couldn’t come a minute too soon.”
The entire street had been opened overnight for a couple of weeks because roads were paved and construction stopped at 6 p.m. But construction continued during the day and the road was still closed during working hours.
