Centretown’s Immaculata High School will be one of 80 schools in the Ottawa Catholic School Board affected by an announcement made by its director yesterday.
James McCracken, the board’s director of education for the past seven years, will be retiring Aug. 31, 2010, according to the board’s website. He has spent 34 years working in education.
Their press release says McCracken’s legacy is a high level of community involvement, especially with Shepherds of Good Hope, the United Way and the Catholic Education Foundation of Ottawa. Under his direction, the board has also had a balanced budget every year since 2003.
No replacement for McCracken has yet been announced.
