The Ottawa Catholic School Board has appointed a new director of education.
Julian Hanlon, the current deputy, will succeed retiring director James McCracken as head of the board.
Hanlon, a lifelong resident of Ottawa, has worked with the board for 31 years, including seven as the deputy director.
He says he is deeply committed to maintaining Ottawa Catholic School Board's reputation as one of the best in Ontario.
Former director McCracken announced his retirement in early January after 34 years in education.
He will step down from his position on Aug. 31.
Hanlon is set to take over his role on Sept. 1, in time for the new school year.
