Students at Elgin Street Public School will be spending a lot more time in the pool after they were awarded funding for a swimming program.
Children ages six to 12 will have the chance to learn how to swim at Jack Purcell Recreation Centre.
The funds were donated by The True Sport Community Fund so the school could implement a SWIM (Student Water Instruction Matters) program.
In addition to lessons, the program will also teach students about water safety and will encourage physical activity through sport.
The True Sport Foundation is a charitable organization that seeks to promote sport to Canadian communities.
