A 40-year-old male cyclist was struck by a OC Transpo bus Tuesday night at the intersection of Bank Street and Catherine Street.
The man was biking east on the one-way westbound Catherine Street when he turned south onto Bank Street in front of the No. 7 Bus.
Firefighters removed the man who was pinned with his bicycle under the bus' front bumper.
EMS Supt. Hean Mahel said the cyclist, whose identiy has not been released, suffered injuries to his chest and recieved a deep gash on his forehead.
He was unconscious for seven minutes but was speaking by the time an ambulance took him to the Civic Hospital.
The man wasn't wearing a helmet and remains in hospital in serious condition.
Media reports say that Bank Street was closed for almost an hour after the accident which occurred at 7:15 p.m.
Police say charges have not yet been laid against the cyclist but may be following an investigation.
