The City of Ottawa will officially unveil the Ottawa Chinatown Gateway, Thursday, in celebration of the 40th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Canada and China.
According to a city news release, the archway, which sits at the corner of Somerset Street and Cambridge Street, will serve as a “welcoming landmark to Ottawa’s Chinatown community.”
The gateway is a “twin-city project” between Ottawa and Beijing.
The federal, provincial and civic governments, as well as the City of Beijing and the Somerset Chinatown BIA, provided funding for the project.
The unveiling will take place between 4 p.m. and 5 p.m., Thursday.
