Kill rats humanely

Re: Rat extermination program on right track, Oct. 29

Jasmine Leduc stated that they are making progress in tackling the rat infestation in the areas mentioned. Clive Lunegren stated that the plastic containers are safe and non-invasive.

Allow me to point out my view and opinion on safe and non-invasive.

To begin, I am all in favour of the Animal Defense League. The poison used to kill the creatures that walk and share our planet is far from safe and non-invasive. This poison leads to a lengthy and agonizing death. They suffer hours and days prior to death.

I have heard these intelligent creatures scream for days in agony. You call this a humane way to die??

Ever had food poisoning? Well, I have and I thank God for my doctor. These creatures do not have this luxury.

At least permit them a quick and painless death as I know they can also be a problem.

I have had rats as pets and found them to be highly intelligent. They have to be to hide in dark sewers to protect themselves and their young from the likes of us.

In closing. All I’m I am asking is, on behalf of this beautiful creature, allow their deaths without misery and prolonged suffering.
