Every year thousands of winter enthusiasts brave the biting wind and frozen toes, pulling on their skates for their annual outing on the world’s largest skating rink – Ottawa’s Rideau Canal.

A flame was ignited at the stroke of midnight on Jan. 1, 1967, 100 years after New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Quebec, and Ontario came together to become the Dominion of Canada. Like an orange-hued sun, it dances to this day on Parliament Hill.

Linking Rue Eddy in Gatineau and Centretown’s Booth Street, Chaudière Bridge’s main claim to fame is that it’s the oldest bridge in the National Capital Region.
