A number of of civic buildings and services will be closed on Nov. 11, and Remembrance Day ceremonies and parades will take place in Centretown and surrounding areas.
Ottawa city hall and client service centres located at 110 Laurier Ave. and 580 Terry Fox Drive will be closed.
Curbside garbage, recycling, green bin and leaf and yard waste collection will take place on its regular days, including Remembrance Day.
Most programming at arts centres, archives, galleries, museums and theatres will be cancelled on Remembrance Day.
OC Transpo will operate a regular weekday schedule on Nov. 11. Buses will pull over to the side of the road at 11 a.m. for a moment of silence. Service is free on Nov. 11 for veterans wearing their uniform or medals, and for their companions.
Pools, arenas, and fitness centres will be open.
Malls open at 12:30 p.m. and close at 9 p.m.
All branches, departments and services of the Ottawa Public Library will beclosed on Remembrance Day. Regular hours will resume on Saturday, Nov. 12.
City-operated Child Care Centre will be closed on Remembrance Day.
There will be no regular collection of delivery or mail on Friday. Post offices will be closed for the day.
Centretown residents can mark this year’s Remembrance Day at the following parades and ceremonies in and around the area:
National War Memorial – 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., Royal Canadian Legion, Dominion Command.
National War Museum – 9 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., free admissions on Nov. 11.
Metcalfe – 10:45 a.m. to noon, ceremonial service at the Metcalfe Cenotaph in front of Old City Hall.
Bells Corners – 10:45 a.m. to noon, Royal Canadian Legion (Bells Corners Branch 593), Centrepointe Drive between Constellation Drive and Chrysalis Way, and to the ceremonial site.
Eastview/Vanier – 1:45 p.m. to 2:45 p.m., Royal Canadian Legion (Eastview Branch 462), north on Cyr Avenue between the Royal Canadian Legion (294 Cyr Ave.) and Montreal Road, east on Montreal Road between Cyr Avenue and Hannah Street, and north on Hannah Street between Montreal Road and Marier Avenue, and to the Vanier Cenotaph for the ceremonial service.
