Centretowners can finally hit the ice after the National Capital Commission NCC opened part of the Rideau Canal Skateway Jan 30.
A 5.4 km-section of the canal between the National Arts Centre and the Bronson Avenue Bridge opened around 6:30 a.m Monday morning.
Until ice conditions improve the NCC is asking that the public stay away from the closed sections because they are considered unsafe.
The NCC closed skating on the canal Jan. 27 when freezing rain and snow turned patches of the ice into slush.
Many of last weekend’s NHL All-Star activities on the canal were jeopardized as the temperatures dropped.
