Ottawa Centre MPP Yasir Naqvi was re-elected president of the Ontario Liberal Party for a third consecutive term at the party’s annual general meeting held today, reports the Ottawa Citizen.
The position is a voluntary commitment of up to 18 months. Naqvi’s responsibilities will include development of policy, fundraising, and maintaining election readiness as part of a minority government.
“It’s not our desire to go into an election, but we have to face the reality that the opposition could force us into an election at any time,” said Naqvi.
Naqvi was first elected to Queen’s Park in 2007.
