Work to replace a 19th century water main on Queen Street begins this week.
Construction has been scheduled to begin at the intersection of Queen and Kent streets, with work between Bronson Avenue and Elgin Street slated for completion by December.
Stretches of Queen Street will be reduced to one lane in each direction and parking will be unavailable in the construction areas.
The current water main was installed in 1874, making it one of the oldest in the city.
The city has designed a temporary water supply system for use during the construction period.
