There will be several major traffic disruptions in Centretown this weekend due to the sixth annual Canada Army Run.
Queen Elizabeth Driveway between Somerset Street West and the Laurier Avenue West on-ramp will be closed from Saturday at 8:30 a.m. until Sunday at 3:00 p.m., according to the event website.
Meanwhile, downtown sections of Elgin Street, Colonel By Drive, Booth Street, Chaudière Bridge, Pretoria Bridge, and Sir John A. Macdonald Parkway will close to vehicles for several hours on Sunday, the majority starting from 7 a.m. Buses running on these roads will be rerouted.
Regular traffic is scheduled to resume in the early afternoon.
This year’s Canada Army Run is expected to draw over 22,000 participants to its five kilometre and half marathon events. The races raise funds for Soldier On and the Military Families Fund, which provide support to injured Canadian soldiers and their families.
