Online company partners with local businesses
A new online company based in Ottawa called SMAKK is aiming to boost small businesses by allowing web shoppers to purchase gift cards from an array of top, locally-owned companies in Canada, many of which are located in Centretown.
Artist fights for iconic sign
The iconic “Jules Patry” sign that could be seen on the City Centre building since 1965 no longer looks out over Centretown. It has been taken down from its familiar spot on the facade of the commercial site between Somerset and Albert streets and moved into storage, but it took a Twitter campaign sparked by local artist Andrew King, to avoid having the slightly rusted, yellow sign from being sent to the dump.
Queen Street blasting begins Friday
Blasting for the Confederation line tunnel under Queen Street, part of Ottawa's new light rail line, will begin near the intersection of Queen and Kent streets on Friday.
