An Environment Canada special weather statement warns of an arctic cold front sweeping through the Ottawa area on Remembrance Day.
The cold front will bring winds of 30 to 50 kilometres per hour and a sharp temperature drop in the evening.
The arctic cold front will make its way through southern and eastern Ontario before arriving in Ottawa. It brings freezing temperatures followed by rain showers and flurries.
This is a recipe for slippery roads during the evening commute, according to a Twitter posting by the Weather Network’s chief meteorologist.
Remembrance Day temperatures normally hover between 6 C and -1 C.
The lowest temperature recorded on Remembrance Day in Ottawa was in 1976 when it dropped to -10 C.
