Ottawa Police arson unit investigating construction fire

The Ottawa Police Service arson unit is looking into a fire at the construction site of a condo development in Little Italy.

Fire crews responded to a fire at the high-end condo site at 115 Champagne St. North early Monday morning, according to police Const. Marc Soucy.

A passerby reported that a trailer on the site was on fire, Soucy said.

Between the trailer and its contents, damage is estimated at $150,000, CBC reported.

Fire crews stayed on the scene after the fire was extinguished to keep an eye on a 180 kilogram propane tank at the site. No injuries were reported.

Soucy said there are no more details available, but the police arson unit is investigating the incident.
