One man was arrested this morning after disturbing the crime scene at the National War Memorial, the site of a shooting incident yesterday that left one person dead, Ottawa Police tweeted.
People gathered around the war memorial this morning to pay their respects, according to reports on Twitter.
Several schools in the downtown area, such as Lisgar Collegiate, Richard Pfaff Alternate Program, Albert Street Education Centre, Elgin Street Public School and York Street Public School, have since lifted lockdown status, CBC reported.
The Ottawa Police said they were “satisfied” that there was only one shooter responsible for yesterday’s attacks in a joint press conference with the RCMP this morning.
The RCMP is scheduled to hold a press conference later this afternoon.
